Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee
Mission Statement
The University of North Carolina at Asheville Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) insures compliance with federal and state regulatory requirements for all research and educational projects which utilize vertebrate animals. IACUC addresses animal welfare and public concerns about humane treatment of research animals, assures compliance with relevant legislation, monitors moral and ethical obligations to other living organisms, provides instructional assurances for granting agencies, and protects investigators from unsubstantiated or unwarranted allegations of improper procedures.
For additional information regarding the IACUC and its processes, please contact Dr. David Gillette at dgillett@unca.edu.
